Week 3
November 1,1997
Sausage and Eggs for breakfast. Then we went to the computer shop and picked out a puter for Jan and John. Then we went for a drive around the area and to an Historical Village. The village was really cute and had lots of old buildings.......a school, a church etc. There were lots of old tools and an old fire engine, books, boomerangs. We then went to Lake Awoonga which is really pretty!! There are nice areas to have a picnic or barbecue and places to swim. When we got back, we met Charlie, Robin, and Nikolette.
I went for a walk with Jan and Eric and got to see wild kangaroos. There were about 40 wild kangaroos grazing in a field. They were so cute!! They basically ignored us until Eric made the Skippy noise, then we had the full attention of the whole mob!!!!! Thank God that sound wasn’t the mating call!!!!!!!! After the visit with the roos, we continued along Jan’s usual path and walked on beach until we were near their street. Eric and I were exhausted when we got back to Jan’s!!!!!
For lunch we had Ham Salad Rolls. And later that evening, I enjoyed a Toohey’s Gold with John. And Jan made a wonderful Pork Stir Fry Dinner!! Very good!!!!
November 2,1997
Barbecue for lunch. Barbecue was great and came with all the trimmings!!!!! I met all of Eric’s family!!! Aunt Pam and Uncle Peter. Mark, Michelle, Tegan, and Collin. Karen, Jeffery, Matthew, and Adam. Julie, Wayne, Megan, and Rebecca. Diana, Russell, and Jamie. Charlie, Robin, and Nikolette came over and so did Ernie. I showed the picture album to Mark and family. Tegan showed me how to take care of the electronic pets. Megan was a ham all day, dancing and singing. Jamie is a cutie and a nice quiet baby. I had a nice little visit with Diana and she is a proud new mother. Aunt Pam and I had a nice long talk too. She quizzed me about Au compared to the States. Then later, showed me pix from when she was in Oklahoma and Les Miz. Very nice, impressive costumes and scenery.
The family gave Eric and I a nice flatware set in a wooden box and a matching set of placemats and coasters. They are very nice and much needed!!
November 3,1997
Left over barbecue. Eric bought some much needed new underwear. We went looking around in several shops and Eric and I got our pins with the USA and AUS flags on them!! :o) We are so cute!!! Next we went to the library. We showed Jan the web page where Eric proposed to me. Jan gave me several really pretty Australia t-shirts. Ernie came over to say bye and brought a bottle of Champagne. We had ham sandwiches for supper.
November 4,1997
Sausage, eggs, and baked beans for breakfast. Bet on the Melbourne Cup. I took some pictures of Jan, John, and Eric. And Eric took a pic of all four of us together!! We went and visited Uncle Peter then headed to the airport. We had an ice cream at the airport and said bye to Jan.
About 20 minutes after we landed at Brisbane, we got to meet Zoe!!!!! She found Eric even though we were expecting her hair to be a different color!!! hehehe She told us that Suzi Q was on her way. Suzi Q showed up within fifteen minutes and we all sat down for a coke and a chat. Seemed kinda weird to be chatting without a computer, although Zoe did bring hers!! We had a nice visit and I got to show off my engagement ring!!! :o) We took some pix, then headed for our plane.
After landing in Sydney, we were ready to get home, so we stopped and got McChooks and came home.
November 5, 1997
We began the unpacking of the bags!!!! We enjoyed the trip to Queensland, but it always feels nice to get back home.
November 6, 1997
Eric said he had a surprise place to take me. We went to look at Minis. They were soooooooo cute!!!!! Many of them were restored and just for show, but there were lots that were driveable too. The bright colors really make the Minis stand out. We will go back sometime so I can get some pictures.
Eric and I went to Manly for an ice cream. I had the Royal Copenhagen and chocolate and Eric had a double scoop of vanilla. We walked around the Corso looking in shops. We bought a cutting board. Then headed home to get ready to go to Jenny’s for dinner.
Eric warned me that Jenny had a steep driveway and he wasn’t joking!!!!! It’s about 85 degrees!!! hehehe We were the first to arrive at Jenny’s and we went to the balcony. Gary brought us wine and 7up. Sue and John got there shortly after we did. Sue showed us pictures of them at Jenolan caves and out on the Harbour. Liz and John arrived. Liz had brought a nice salmon dip with melba toast. We all sat around talking and snacking.
Jenny made Chicken stuffed with Crab and covered with a nice sauce, regular and sweet potatos, and a salad. The food was delicious!!!!! Sue had made dessert, a nice Apple Crumb with ice cream!! Yummy!!!! We had nice conversation after dinner and lotys of laughs. And found out why Qantas is so free with the peanuts!!! hehehe
Rebecca came in and visited with everyone. Than it was time to head home. We loved seeing everyone, but it was past our bedtime!!!!!

Called John to say Happy Birthday!! Eric and I stayed home for a quiet night. We just watched tv.
